Bill Bakopoulos is a full-stack developer that recently completed the Software Engineering Immersive at General Assembly in Chicago. Following his studies at General Assembly, he took an internship position as a front-end developer at American Eagle Web Development in Des Plaines, IL. After completing his internship in November of 2019, he accepted a position as a full-time FED working on the Big Commerce developer team. At American Eagle, his focus was primarily working on building robust UIs that are ADA compliant and allow individuals with disabilities to have a rich web experience. Bill has a strong passion for solving real world problems through building robust and easy-to-use UIs. He has consistently worked in the technology space as a consultant providing solutions for improving user experience through implementation of different technology packages.
At the moment his stack of choice is MongoDB, Express, React, and Nodejs (MERN), however he is also familiar with Python/Flask, jQuery, SQL, and many more! Bill enjoys learning new technologies and is passionate about expanding his knowledge base.
In his free time Bill enjoys hiking, fishing, playing guitar, CrossFit, and all things outdoors!
While working through the planning process of his upcoming wedding, Bill discovered a need for an online platform to connect individuals for the purpose of buying, selling, and trading pre-owned wedding goods. Bill built Wedding-Exchange for the capstone project of SEI at General Assembly. After creating an account, users can create and post listings which will be viewable by all other Wedding-Exchange members.

Chicago-Bytes was created for Project III at General Assembly for the Software Engineering Immersive. This project was Bill's first exploration with React and also a fully decoupled full-stack application. Chicago Bytes leverages the Zomato API to provide a search feature for users to locate nearby restaurants in the downtown Chicago area.

Dev-Folio was featured as Project II at General Assembly. For this project, Bill sought out to build a platform where prospective developers could create an online portfolio and showcase their most recent projects. This platform would serve as a tool for promoting their developer work as well as a source for recruiters to find local talent!

Duck Hunt was Bill's second expoloration into object-oriented programming. After having built a JavaScript calculator, Bill wanted to recreate some simple games. Duck Hunt was the first major project in the Software Engineering Immersive at General Assembly. Bill's rendition of Duck Hunt uses the mouse to click on ducks as they fly across the screen via simple animations. The game tracks time, score, shots remaining, and alerts the user once the game is over.
